MCL-20148Minecraft Launcher dosent start, macOS 12.0.1, JAVA 8 311.
Hello, I just today bougth Minecraft for my Kid and it is not working.
I downloaded https://launcher.mojang.com/download/Minecraft.dmg installed the app and try to open it but it does nothing. For a second I get a popup and than its gone. I uninstalled it, reinstalled it all the same.

so thats not an actual minecraft download, in fact that file may be malware, however virustotal.com doesnt show it as such

Have you checked if the Launcher process appears at the task manager and then force quit it?
Could you try to reinstall the Launcher? After deleting it, find .minecraft and delete the file - what is important that this file should be deleted from the trash bin, because corrupted files from the old .minecraft file may interract with the newly generated .minecraft file.
