MC-1663261.14.4 freezes. 1.11.2 throws exceptions

What I expected to happen was...:
1.14.4 minecraft load / 1.11.2 minecraft play
What actually happened was...:
1.14.4 froze up so I tried 1.11.2 and it crashed
Steps to Reproduce:
open minecraft launcher 1.16.89-j
select 1.14.4
press play and it freezes.
Launcher Log tab shows null pointer exception while loading json objects and also shows duplicate key null
open minecraft launcher 1.16.89-j
select 1.11.2
press play
select single player world that was generated in 1.11.2
play for about 5 seconds
get heap dump screen
Environment
OS: Linux (ver 4.15.0-70-generic, arch amd64)
Java: 1.8.0_222 (by Private Build)
Launcher: Minecraft Launcher 1.6.89-j (bootstrap 5)
Minecraft: 1.11.2 (updated Wed Dec 21 02:29:12 MST 2016)

This issue is Invalid because of a number of reasons:
MCL-11993.Please use the current version of the launcher (or the current version of the legacy launcher) in order to be able to play current versions of Minecraft.
