There IS a problem with Windows 8.1 : mouse left click is very laggy.
It is pretty impossible to move horizontally/vertically and use the left click at the same time.
If it is not working because of a driver issue, it is clearly not Minecraft's problem. This site is for bug reports for the PC version of Minecraft, any bugs/technical problems found in anything besides Minecraft's code do not belong on this bug tracker.
Minecraft works on windows 8.1.
Windows 8.1 is running very good for me, no problems (with Minecraft) at all.
Check your driver's website for updates. If they don't offer things for 8.1, yell at them.
