I can confirm this.
Though they can also be found in SNOW related biomes,
you are right they don't spawn elsewhere.
Ice: planes spikes cold beach mountains etc.
Rabbits now only spawn in certain biomes.
That's what we are saying, ice and deserts, and it's a bug.
WAI. Rabblits were changed to be smaller and faster, run away from players and spawn only in a very limited number oif biomes. Their skins are now also biome-specific. This change was made in the 1.9 snapshots (15w4xx is think)

How do you get the other colours of rabid when only desert and snow rabbits spawn? Yellow and white.

It's not about size or them running away.
I checked all over in creative.
Prove me wrong then. Make a NEW world in 1.9 pre2 and show me a rabbit outside desert and snow.
They spawn in snow plains (white), deserts (yellow), forests (mixed colours) and a couple of other biomes. They definitely do not spawn in the plains, however, and this can make them seem very rare. That was partly the point of the changes I think. If you want rabbits to spawn more frequently, consider making a suggestion on the suggestions subreddit.

Because they don't spawn there in pre2.! Only Desert and ice.

And no i don't want them to spawn more frequently, because you can't walk 10 meters in a desert or ice biome without tripping over a bunny. They are plenty there
Apparently I was wrong about the forest. The wiki says: In Pocket Edition, Console Edition, and 1.9,[upcoming] rabbits naturally spawn in deserts, flower forests, taiga, mega taiga, cold taiga, ice plains, ice mountains, ice spikes, and the "hills" and "M" variants of these biomes.
I know the wiki doesn't decide if it is a bug or not, but this also describes the original implementation of rabbits in MCPE which has been ported to PC.

Still cant find rabbits in hills, flowers, and taiga. Will report back if i find any. So far i still call it a bug
In that case it is a bug; thanks for the explanation. Just remember that 'hills' only applies to taiga hills, desert hills etc. and not forest hills, birch forest hills and other hills biomes where rabbits would not normally spawn.
Spent 1+ hours looking in those biomes too. No rabbits
Maybe we only get to have the yellow and white rabbits now in survival. /sarcasm

I have experienced this as well. I have spent considerable time in 1.9.4 exploring. Rabbits abound in deserts, and I just found my first ice plains biome and the first thing I saw was a white rabbit. I have seen several flower forests and lots of taiga, but not a single rabbit in any of those. I brought back a breeding pair from the desert to my home base in grassland, and successfully bred a small proportion of brown rabbits (as well as lots of gold) there as the wiki says can happen.
Update: Having now explored the ice plains for a while, I have seen both ice colors of rabbits (white and black/white) frequently. They do not seem to spawn in the cold taiga, however. I can only confirm ice plains and ice plains spikes. Also, I finally found mega taiga, and there are bunnies there as well.

Well, the summary is now the sum of the biomes where single users have seen rabbits.

I agree. AFAIK they were ported from PE with the limited biome.
According to the wiki, rabbits are also supposed to spawn in taiga and flower forests, but they don't. That's the bug.
The wiki is describing the game , thus the wiki is wrong.
