MCD-3670Creating Character Back-Ups/Clones causes complete character wipes
For context I got the game on Windows 10 through XGP.
Midway through my XGP trial I decided to back-up my characters in fear of losing my files after the XGP trial expires, literally the next time I opened MCD my characters were already gone, luckily the back-up was stored in a separate folder.
I saw a post on windowscentral about cloning characters causing character wipes and I believe that could be the root of the problem this problem keeps persisting.

duplicates
In the clone, do you still have your correct level and equipped items? (
MCD-833)It only cloned my current equipped items, gems and inventory were wiped
