We have been playing minecraft dungeons for about a week on split screen and today when we signed in with the second account it deleted the hero and made me create a new one, I tried switching hero but my original one has completely disappeared and now I have to start over.

This happened to us as well. We've been playing the game on PS4 with two controllers.
Then, a couple days ago, one of the characters got replaced by a new character with level 1.
We saw the original character flash for 1 second before it was replaced.
Couldn't find any solutions to this, but I saw a lot of people having similar a problem.
This has now happened to myself and my sons character. All progress lost as well. The incident happened while we were both playing as player number 2 on the PS4. First time he was player one and using his game mode with all the maps he cleared. I went to hit R1 L1 and poof gone level 70 character. Second time I was player 1 just starting to build up a new character and he logged in and poof, gone level 80 character. Both of us have stopped playing the game until a fix is rolled out. All the trophies earned should help the mojang team fix this glitch. The stored data of the player profile has lost its link within the game. My hope is that a patch can reestablish that link so the character pops back up. This is not a PS4 issue, its a mojang issue for sure
Really a bummer losing a few high level characters and were on apocalypse mode.
To confirm this glitch just look online at some forums. A quick google search should get you the confirmation.
