MCL-15055java minecraft 1.16.1 won't connect to realms outdated client
Clean install 1.16.1 ( cant find link to download 1.16.2 ). Realm says "your client is outdated and not compatible with realms.Please update to the most recent version of minecraft."
Bit lost to be honest.
Environment
windows 10 64bit fully updated. java version1.16.1

To play on realms you'll need to use 1.16.2.
To select this version click on the drop down menu by the play button and select 'latest release'. If you can't do this or need help doing this, please visit community support.

Unfortunately it doesn't list it. Even on a new install. There's a 1.16.2 pre1 on Snapshots though. It doesn't connect to realms either.
Complete uninstall, reinstall fresh, deleted .minecraft folder. Reinstalled GPU driver fresh.
Now says unable to start check your configuration. Clean install nothing else.
