MCL-16066GTK 2 has reached the end of its life
With the release of GTK 4.0, one of the launcher's dependencies is now unsupported. I image that the requirement for GTK 2 is soley upstream, possibly CEF, and that there may be nothing to be done at Mojang.

GTK 2 has reached the end of its life
Functionally this changes nothing, but I see it as an opportunity to inquire about the future of the launcher. With the release of GTK 4.0, one of the launcher's dependencies is now unsupported. I image that the requirement for GTK 2 is soley upstream, possibly CEF, and that there may be nothing to be done at Mojang. It seems work is being done to improve GTK 3 support in CEF. I am unsure of the implications of this PR, but it also seems like a move in the direction of Wayland support, another popular launcher request. Rather than depending on both toolkits, GTK 2 and 3 as is currently required, are there plans to remove GTK 2 as a dependency? Any plans for GTK 4?

Yep, we are dependent on GTK 2 due to CEF. A future CEF upgrade should remove this dependency!
This is technically not a bug as it is by design, but I'll keep it open until we update CEF.
I noticed gtk2 was removed from the dependencies on the AUR and removed it from my system to no ill effect. Has the recent update of Chromium resolved this?
