Logo animation is often not smooth when opening the Minecraft Launcher
The bug
In 2.2.176x, new animations were added for when the logos for Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft Dungeons are shown.
Previously, a user could expect to see the following:
However, now, as the animation is not smooth, and seems to stutter as the launcher loads in the resources it needs to present to the user. This is what I see very often when I open the launcher:
If there was choppiness in the previous fade, it was not noticeable. The choppiness in the current animation is very obvious.
How to reproduce
- Open the Minecraft Launcher in 2.2.143x (tested in 2.2.1432)
The animation for the logo is smooth - Open the Minecraft Launcher in 2.2.176x (tested in 2.2.1769)
The animation for the logo is not smooth
Environment
MacBook Air 2020, ARM M1 chipset
Created Issue:

Hi Mark, that's very interesting and nothing we've seen before. Would you mind sharing some information about your machine? I have reasons to believe this is a hardware issue.
Sure! My device is a MacBook Air 2020, with the Apple M1 chip. It has 8 GB of memory too. Let me know if you need more than that.
I've done a bit more testing, and this does not happen every single time. You're probably right that it's a hardware issue. I will do a bunch of tests and share the results as a video.
I've provided the video: MojiraATests.mp4
Interesting! I believe you've identified a speed issue with Rosetta 2. I'm afraid this issue will persist until we start building Launcher for M1 chipsets.
This may be worse in 2.2.1864. I've had the animation take over 15 seconds to play on occasion.
This actually seems to have been fixed in 2.2.2310
