Launcher says that it has update, but won't
My Minecraft launcher says that it is in an older version of the launcher and says: "You are running an old version of the launcher. Please consider using the new launcher which will improve the performance of both launcher and game.

Sorry Kumasasa for making multiple issues it's just it wasn't getting noticed and getting shoved down in the comments.
Hey what do I do my launcher is broken
This notice means that your version of the launcher won't be able to autoupdate, or that you're manually launching the jar instead of the exe. Consider getting the latest Minecraft installer and then launching the game from Minecraft.exe, and you hopefully shouldn't be seeing this.
OK, thanks. I'm just having trouble understanding do you want me to delete then re-install it?
Don't delete anything. Simply download the installation from https://minecraft.net/en-us/download/, install it and run it.
The download didn't work what do I do?

Are you clicking on your old Minecraft shortcut (or a jar file, or something similar)? The new launcher added a shortcut in your start menu, you should use that from now on.
