When you destroy portal is understable that every structure of the cstle fell down and drop the materials. But when the castle is to big you don't have time enought get to every structure in the place to get the resource dropped.
After the big effort of destroying a portal you dont get a avarage reward becasue you don't have enought time to recolect every material
