Does the composter show in the recipe book? If so, what is shown for the recipe when you select it? Please attach a screenshot of that. (Note that screenshots directly from the device are preferred to avoid cutting off any parts and clarity.)
Otherwise, are you using any add-ons, and if so, which ones (name and creator)? Does the issue occur in a new "vanilla" world with no add-ons?

the composter is not in the recipe book and when i try to build it in the workbench it doesn't show up. this applies to both creative and survival modes

Are you perhaps using the "old stone wood slab" (the one that can't burn), rather than oak wood slabs?
Do you use texture packs? Also tell me what version of the game you have (indicated on the start screen in the lower right corner)?
I don't use textures because it's the game for nontendo switch v1.2.12. I've tried using wood slabs of any kind but it doesn't work.
You need to update the game to get all the new features.
Updated to the latest version but it doesn't work
