Cannot join worlds that have multiple add-ons applied to them
Everytime i try downloading too many packs at the same time, the game gives me this connection error:
"Unable to connect to the world. Please check your internet connection and try again."
I've confirmed that it's not a hosting issue as my friends that already have the add-ons installed can join just fine; this is also not an issue with the packs themselves as this bug presents itself with pretty much any of them, even official marketplace ones. This occurs on both LAN and multiplayer connection, so it's not an issue with the servers either.. I suppose.
I haven't tested it thoroughly on PC as i believe this is only a problem on consoles (specifically PlayStation consoles) due to hardware limitations of course, and i have absolutely no idea about mobile. Can confirm that the packs DO NOT GET DOWNLOADED AT ALL, as the process restarts from scratch everytime i try to join.
Steps to reproduce:
- Take as many packs (add-ons) as you can and put them all into a single world.
- With a PS4/PS5 console, go to the friends tab and join the world that hosts all the different packs.
- Upon joining you'll be asked to download the packs. Just accept it.
Expected results:
the packs should be able to download and you can then join the world.
Actual results:
the packs fail to download not even halfway in, basically rendering the world unaccessible to the public.
(NOTE: this can be avoided by simply downloading the add-ons one at a time, but that's besides the point. I don't want to break my packs down and remember the same exact order they were put in, as i have over 20 packs applied to my world and A LOT of copies in my storage that get mixed up with the most recent iterations.)

The issue with mobs appearing in different places when reloading is tracked in MCPE-186753.
If you are using add-ons, you might also be experiencing MCPE-188710. You can try removing all add-ons to see if that helps.
Hi ObeyedSwine1805,
To start, I think some additional information would be useful considering this sounds like a possible performance issue.
- Have you had any other lag and/or frame rate problems before this specific issue since hosting the world on a BDS?
- What are some of the specs of the computer you’re hosting the server from? (RAM, Graphics Card, Processor)
- How many people are typically on the server at a time, and does this issue affect everyone consistently?
Thanks,
EldesRed
Edit: I did manage to find some related issues around players not being able to join modded worlds you can see here: MCPE-188710

This is specifically bothersome to me since i host a private server on my PC, and basically no one can join because of this damn bug. Obviously i can't just assist every single user by inviting them to burner worlds with only a few packs applied so that they can have them all installed one at a time, so something must be made.
Update: so i just tried the world on an official dedicated server and joined from my console through lan; as expected, the packs download just fine and at faster speeds as well when using a dedicated server, which probably means that this is an issue with bedrock's own official servers.
Seems like the issue is being tracked, as several other users have reported it thus making it community consensus; however, it's still not fixed. Any updates on the situation?
It's almost been a month, and not only has this not been fixed yet but also not verified (even though more than 8 users have reported the issue already, and 5 have even voted.) This is easily replicable, so i don't understand what's taking so long.
Thank you for your report!
Its an issue with Switch and Xbox players as well. We've tested it out and the max they can download at a time is 4-5 packs without crashing and getting an "Error while downloading packs screen."
I have noticed this most often in the Hive when downloading too many resource packs when there is a bad internet connection. Perhaps that is the issue?
No, my brother and I are at the same house, I can join on PC and Mobile just fine, but when he tries to join via console and has to download the packs, he crashes. This is multiple players having the same issue.
Edit: Fixed typos.
Added more context.
I have a super fiber connection with 460 MB of download speed on my PS5 and even more on my pc, so no the wifi's not the issue. I proceeded to replicate this same issue on PC and the packs downloaded just fine, so again this is a console issue.
Is there any moderator that can give us an update on the issue? How is it going so far, has it been verified?
