I started a new world today and I found a cave, but I feel down the cave and I saw gold ore. Before I fell, I was at sea level and I didn't fall very low.

do you have the seed and coordinates?
Just you used randomly seeds?
I used a random seed and I don't have the coordinates.
do you have still have the world save? We can't confirm this for testing unless we can reproduce this
And it is in pocket edition
/seed will give you the seed, alternatively open the settings and look at the world details under “seed”. Turn on “show coordinates” to get coords
is there a mesa biome in the same chunk? the same happens for emeralds and those are wai.
