actually that doesn't sound right as I have built two layers one which is definitely high enough to work. It could be that I have built the pattern with slabs i was told stops spiders. except they dont spawn on the roof very much either.

Java-style mob farms do not work in Bedrock because the spawning algorithm is totally different.
Heya mate, thanks for your reply. EDIT: The farm does actually work but I had to do a peaceful cycle to activate it
