On a survival, mulitplayer, vanilla server I and fellow minecrafters on the server, with no lag (like chests and doors, and logging in, shows no normal signs of the usual lag experienced sometimes on minecraft)but when using no tool at all to destroy dirt (bare hands) the block does not drop and leave item to pick up until 5-20 seconds after rightfully destroyed. however when I used my diamond, eff 4/5 shovel It did drop when it should have, no lag at all. This does not happen in SSP, So it could be possibly the actual server connection. but of this I'm not sure
Update (11/11/12) Everybody else on the server has been having the issue, The blocks that are affected include obsidian, Coal and other ores, Stone, Dirt, Sand, Clay and chests. Also wood and stonebrick are affected. Some ways to avoid it are to use efficiency picks/ shovels but this can still be annoying. It definitely does not happen in SSP and other things, like opening doors, and eating is not laggy at all. Some users have speeds around 15 - 20 mb/s and still get this lag. So I am confused to how this is happening.

what I expected:
Throw an splash potion of invisibility at a cave spider and only see those glowing eyes. What actually happened:
Threw the splash potion at the cave spider and I saw its eyes, however wheniflew up high I could see an opaque outline of it.
NowI know the visbleness of certain mob features asihave previously searched to see if my bug existed ( wool on sheep, cave spiders eyes, ect) however I'm not sure This is normal(Also happens with Spiders, but I have checked all other mobs and does not work with them, Only cave spiders, and spiders)
The first picture below is of the newly made invisible cave spider and sure enough you can still see the glowing eyes, however the second one is as I have flown up high and now you can see the opaque outline of the cave spider. I'm not if this does work on SMP Creative/survival Or SSP Survival

When cave spiders are supposed to be invisible(invispotion) when you fly up high you can see an opaque outline of themWhen cave spiders are supposed to be invisible Using an Invis Splash potion) when you fly up high you can see an opaque outline of them???

Very sorry about the duplicate, but the reason why 25% of issues Are dupes is because of the tags, how could I have found my issue by searching when I did not know it happened with minecarts as well, and the Issue you linked mine to had nothing to do with boats, just minecarts?
I always thought this was how it was meant, and placed the bars or panes on the surface of the next block. I see your point but how does this make a difference to if you can place them, you can only add more in a row by either building them on the thin edge, or on the surface of the next block, If you build it from the side it will most certainly come towards you. But if you look at my screenshot, you will see it is probably going to classed as intentional. The way the corner is made is that there is two panes going into each other, making the hit-box fairly messed up and meaning that you can build on them when not actually trying to.
I have had this before, In 1.4.2 where there has been a ravine, and a lake. The water sits at the edge but does not fall into the ravine like it should. Have come across this many a time in fact.
Some where near being in the same kind of category which is to do of things not working how they should (when a chunk loads with cut of water then it should fall into the hole) is that sand as well acts in the same way. If found when exploring and you destroy one block then the other sand around it being held up weirdly falls as well, with the water if you break one block the water around it also falls. Funny how these things work. but I would assume it has something to do with an error when the chunk is loaded and block updates.
Tried and tested, did not work. Only works with spiders and cave spiders.
What do you make of his second to last screenshot then? " It is also cut off water flows, and water don't flowing. For example. in this seed: "-4259845526421387129" (world type default)"
Yes, So both the sand thing, water and messed up water falling is to do with chunks not loading correctly? That would be something that would seem correct looking at why and what is happening.
Lag, I would say 99.9% it is lag. especially if on SMP but it can still happen on SSP
So to make things clear:
It is getting cut off chunks which causes water that does not flow properly, and land which is messed up. So the actual problem is getting cut off chunks. As if that is fixed then the cut off water won't happen and the land wont be messed up.
@chalmes Not really this is a problem where the 'normal' map is being loaded in creative minecraft where as this is a problem loading the chunks correctly in the 'normal' minecraft.
