MCL-23664Changed Description:
New Install of MCL on Linux by the ELF-executable(not .deb) and when I try to install a version (1.8.9 in this case) and define a custom installation path it simply does not work and defaults back to ~/.minecraft

Ok ahhhh, maybe I pointed to a read only-filesys with my path...
Thats likely what caused the error
If its possible Id like to tunr this into a Feature-Request with an error-msg like "This location is not allowed, you have selected a read-only filesystem" or smth
trying it with ntfs-3g, if it doesnt work with a symlink pointing to ~/.minecraft, and if this doesnt work just trying to point it to another direction on my disk just to test if a custom path does work

well i have no idea how to delete this, set it to resolved or smth or just delete it... imma head to the suggestion page (mounted via ntfs-3g it works like a charm)
Thats somehow a problem with my Browser, other Browser do redirect to aka.ms. Sorry for taking your time (again)
