Every time I click "Play" while in the minecraft launcher, it shows the bar at the bottom saying "finalizing", then the launcher closes, and reopens a few seconds later with a message saying that there is an error and it crashed.Launcher Crashes Every Time I Click "Play"

So I changed the settings as you suggested, and tried again. The launcher stayed open, but the crash message still came up. I am quite certain it is actually the game that is crashing.
