If this was intentional then I am sad, the old map function was actually useful, with this I now have no reason to use maps, but oh well the best I can do to change this is to complain as I currently am doing.
Still happens in 1.8.3, and this is the first time its really affected me, I wonder if certain seeds are just more likely to redraw.
This is still an issue in Minecraft 1.8.8 and it can't be my harware GTX 970 I7 4790k 16GB 1866MHz Ram
