It seems that
thatsince version 887 of a Minecraft Launcher, the --workDir switch that is used to specify a custom working directory does not work anymore.
For example, on a fully updated Ubuntu 20.04, when downloading and installing the Minecraft package, then running:minecraft-launcher --workDir=/home/asciiwolf/.minecrafttestIt crashes with:

I have tried it now on multiple distros and there was the same issue on all of them.
I am including a full log as an attachment.
Any chance that this issue could be fixed? It is still a problem and breaks Minecraft for many Linux users.
