They can ride because they are jockeys. Striders can also be ridden by baby ones. I thin k is no bug.
I am not using commands. I made the with colorful dyes in crafting table with fire charge and gunpowder. It goes right. But when I put them with gunpowder and paper they turn cian.
I have similar problem. Resoved by holding a crossbow.
This also happened yesterday in my world, but I broke a Block and everything Was fine in that chunk. In other chunks, i had to break Blocks too.

Yes, I saw that also with my friends, we are folowed by experiente orbs that stays at our feet.
