Minecraft worked fine yesterday with the old launcher but wont launch today with the new launcher that was 'surprised' onto me. Just stays stuck on 'preparing', rather have the old launcher back that worked!
When I pressed Play for the launcher to launch the game/
What actually happened was...:
When I pressed Play the play button turned into a loading bar and displayed 'preparing' but never gets any further. (Its been 20 mins. or more now)Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Launcher
2.Press playThings I have Tried:
Restarting launcher
Restarting computer
Searching Google for similar issues
Searching bug reports for similar issues.

After restarting minecraft several times over the course of a few hours last night I did get it to finally load. Randomly on one of my many attempts it worked without a problem. It took several hours though and many attempts. By the time it did work I was heading to bed and just closed it out.
Trying again today I am having the same problem again... Just won't load and gets stuck on 'Preparing'...
This is really annoying I can't play minecraft when I paid good money for it.
This is NOT resolved! And how can it be a duplicate of an issue that was created two days later! I am still having the problem and so are many others.
Is that all you guys do is just close reports claiming they are duplicates without ever actually resolving them? I made sure when I created my bug report there were none like it. And MINE gets closed when other people create duplicates instead of theirs? WTF
Can I at least get some answers!
You would think it would be easier/neater/more efficient to keep the first bug report posted and delete the duplicates. Instead of just constantly linking people to new bug reports which link to new bug reports. So everyone has to constantly follow this trail of links to the latest reported bug report rather then everyone (mod and user alike) just concentrating their efforts on ONE bug report. It seems like you guys are creating a lot more work for yourselves having to link all these reports together when it can be as simple as trying to resolve the original and just removing all others that duplicate it afterwards and linking them to the ONE report.
