Update version 1.13 (not sure if previous versions are affected)
In the Nether Wastes level, one of the last few checkpoints is titled "Open the Gate". The player is blocked by a gate that is opened after activating the switch and fighting a swarm of mobs. This area also has a "backyard" of sorts that usually contain emerald pots.
In the upper right corner of backyard area (shown in screenshot), it is possible for the player to roll across the gap and enter the area beyond the gate. The player can kill all the enemies in this area, but they are blocked from proceeding past the next checkpoint, which is a drawbridge. The switch will not activate and it is impossible for the player to return to the previous area.
The only thing the player can do to recover is to use the menu option to return to the previous checkpoint, or I suppose you could just fall off the cliff to respawn (haven't tried this).
If this ability to skip the Open the Gates section was an intentional secret, then the next switch to activate the drawbridge should activate as expected. Otherwise, the area should be edited to prevent the user from skipping to the next area.

I have attached a video clip. mcd 1.5x.mp4
I had to speed it up a little to get it to fit within the 10mb size limit. But you should be able to clearly see the location and method used to roll to the next section, as well as the activation point not activating.
After I recorded this clip, I was able to jump off the cliff and respawn before the previous activation point. I cleared the area of mobs and was able to proceed to the next area correctly and finish the level without issues.
