Yes, i've seen the settings in screenshot you provided. Note that there are two as opposed to the three from the old launcher. They are 1) To close the launcher at start & 2) To keep the launcher open at start
The one that was removed was 3) close the launcher and reopen it at game close
In other words, it would close the launcher (or hide it) when the game started, but after you closed the game, the launcher would reopen and show the game logs
The reason why this setting was good is because having the launcher running takes up memory. For people with old PCs, having the launcher running during play slows down the game. However, if these people really needed chat logs (as my examples listed, moderators on minecraft servers), they could simply use the "reopen at game close" option

My profiles sorted at random when I launched, and have not re-ordered in this manner (recent use)
