greg065 I suspect there is something strange going on on your devices. MCPE 0.15.6 ran just fine on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Android 5.1.1 and my Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920W8), Android 6.0.1 I would double check that you don't have any 3rd party apps related to minecraft, close all other open apps and try MCPE again.
happened to me too, i was playing in multiplayer in an hunger game server, then my fps istant dropped to 0, i think this is the problem

This bug happens with all the animals and they will run endlessly.
Confirmed that happens only at amd/ati graphics cards, I've a nVidia one and my brother an amd one, he can see the ghost portal but I can't

EDIT: I don't have the "animated water" option for some reason.
EDIT2: Also tested on another s4, and on a galaxy S6... still lags, but only while moving the camera
