It looks like it crashed whilst trying to render flowing water. It's probably an issue with your resource pack. Try using default and see if it happens again.
Also, if someone who actually fully knows what they're talking about thinks I'm way off the mark, it would be nice if you would tell me.

Yeah, I hate it when I craft a perfectly correct sentence, but people call it a run-on because it's a paragraph long. Very annoying.

Probably whilst fixing this ( https://bugs.mojang.com/secure/attachment/44359/water_hitbox.jpg ), they caused your issue, which is why it's a dupe.
Maybe because this is not the place to voice your general disappointment with the company. That's why we have a forum.
It happened in 8 separate furnaces in different places at different times.
It did not work on a second attempt.
