Waterlogged blocks and flowing lava can touch without converting to stone. This commonly happens in stone generators when the lava flows to the conversion spot before the water.
To reproduce build whats in the first screenshot with the observers making a clock. fill the dispenser with a bucket of water and start immediately breaking the forming stone by holding down left click where it generates (you'll probably have to break some glass). Soon the lava will occupy the generating spot and stone will stop generating. Then flick the lever.
I'm assuming this is caused by the water not trying to flow into that space because it is occupied by lava, and therefor the game doesn't recognize them as touching. If a water source attempted to flow, even with its path blocked by lava, this bug would likely be fixed.
It's a very niche bug that seems inconsequential, but it has a large effect on stone/basalt hybrid generators. As seen in the second screenshot, this bug decreases the stone generation, compared to basalt, by about 80%.
Edit - Upon further review I realized I made this 100% more complex than needed. To reproduce you just need to put the lava in first, let it flow, then waterlog the stair.

To reproduce build whats in the first screenshot (without the observers), let the lava flow down, fill the dispenser with a bucket of water, then flick the lever. The intended mechanic is the flowing lava would become cobblestone, but it doesn't.

Shulker boxes broken by a piston have weird, unreliable physics

The image above is a very simple way to observe this bug. Fill each hopper with a different stack of items and you can watch them transfer from one hopper to the other. Make sure you make one rail a little longer than the other so they will eventually cross with the right timing.
Just relog and the horse should be back.
It would be interesting to know what percentage of Java boxes got stuck. Also it's worth noting none of these boxes landed on the piston.
