Also thought about it being a bug or not, it is handy though in some cases
For the desert part, thats just how it generated, for the snow biome, im not sure but i suppose that is an error.

For some reason I have that too in 1.12.2

MC-125219, in that case they are talking about it not keeping its rotation, this guy is suggesting that because of the bark block having all the same sides, the stripped version also should have the same sides, and this is confirmable that this isnt implemented although its more a feature suggestion.This happens to me when i wanted to load a ocean world.
This isnt a bug since its programmed to do that like any other animal.
