Possibly duplicated issue : MC-78633
( That issue is invalid because no information is given. Although it seems the issue doesn't only occur with Java 9. )—
I know the preferred Java version is 8, but Minecraft website doesn't explicitly state Java 9 to be incompatible in the system requirements. Java 9 is now publicly available, so this issue should be addressed.Expected result : Window title displays Minecraft Launcher <version>, in this case Minecraft Launcher 1.6.73-j.

Now Java 9 is publicly released, the launcher needs a minor patch to remove -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode from the default JVM arguments. In fact, ConcMarkSweepGC development will be dropped and G1GC will be the default, so maybe it would be a better idea to disable -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC altogether.

@Kyler Chin You don't have to switch back to Java 8. Edit your profile to use custom JVM arguments and remove the -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode option from it.
No I'm not… 1.6.84-j is publicly available for download on minecraft.net, in the "Alternative downloads" section.
Anyways, it seems the issue has somehow magically resolved itself, thanks for the assistance.
