Changed Description:
When I created another Launch option, and selected any other gameversion beside the latest one and want to launch it, the launcher shows up a moment later with an error message (see the picture below).
I tested all the 1.12 versions, and the 1.10 version of minecraft. (The latest version runs quite fine)
I am sure, that the 1.10 with the old launcher ran without any error on my linux system.
The launcher_log.txt is in the attachements too.
It would be very great, if you could fix this bug
Changed Environment:
Linux Mint 19 (Ubuntu 18.04 Basis)
openjdk 10.0.2 2018-07-17
Nvidia GTX 750 Ti
Intel i5 6500
But this error is on other linux distributions too.

When I run the launcher with java 8 everything works quite fine
The default Java Version in Ubuntu 18.04 is 11 I think
