It would seem that any game rules on Realms changed with /gamerule do not persist if the world is unloaded / re-loaded.
For example, in game if I change doinsomnia to false using /gamerule, the change will be reset to default when the last player leaves the realm and the world is unloaded.
This issue persists regardless of behavior packs/resources packs being present / not present.Steps to Reproduce
For the purposes of these steps we will be using the 'doinsomnia' game rule as an example. You can use any game rule that is NOT in the world settings UI for this test.
1. Enter a Realm with an existing world. Do not allow anyone else to connect to the Realm while testing.
2. As an owner, type in /gamerule doinsomnia
3. Take note of the value that is returned (value is true by default)
4. As an owner enter the following command: /gamerule doinsomnia false
5. Leave the world and don't allow anyone else to connect to it during the test.
6. Wait 20 minutes for the Realm to be unloaded automatically by the server. OR close and re-open the Realm in the Realm subscription page.
7. Re-join the world after the world has been automatically unloaded by the Realms server.
8. Type in /gamerule doinsomnia and take note of the output.Observed Results
While the world is active an owner will change the doinsomnia rule to false to prevent phantoms from spawning. During the session the rule will be in force until the world is unloaded either by everyone leaving and the server automatically unloading the world, or closing and re-opening the Realm through the subscriptions page.
If the owner re-enters the world, said owner will find the doinsomnia rule has been reset to the default state of true. The owner will also discover any other rule set using /gamerule has been reset to default.Expected Results
Realm owner expects to see /gamerule changes to persist through sessions / reloads as they did prior to 1.18.10. For example, setting doinsomnia to false should remain false until someone such as the owner or an op were to change said setting.
Note: This problem only affects game rules changed with the /gamerule command. All players MUST be disconnected from the realm long enough for the world to be unloaded automatically by the server.I have also attached a video demonstrating this (I cut out the 20 minutes of doing nothing waiting for the server to unload). So you must wait 20 minutes before re-joining the Realm.
OR: Feature request, give us the ability to ban anybody using a mobile device so we can have max render distance
It is the forced render distance of 4 that Realms restricts us to. Unfortunately it isn't a bug as far as I know, and there is nothing we can do about it except complain. I think it is designed to restrict us to 4 because of mobile players.
I'm experiencing the same problem. The error message says nothing at all, other than there was an error. I wish there was a more helpful message. I'm also suspicious about backup and restore functions as the time it takes to restore doesn't exist.
This issue appears to have happened twice today on my realm. The usual unresponsiveness of blocks, can't open chests or doors. Then disconnect and then it takes about 10 minutes before anyone can reconnect, and we find progress has been reverted anywhere between 5-15 minutes.
I've run into this problem as well. It would seem that any setting not controlled through the realm management screen gets reset after the last user logs off.
So if you change anything while in game by use of the /gamerule command, those rules will revert back to default if the world gets unloaded (either closing the realm or the last user logging off after a few minutes).
This issue occurs on the Win10 version of Bedrock as well. OPs can't invite people to my Realm.
Yes, everything prior to 1.18.10 was working.
Umija, I believe brett is talking about the command block output game rule which does indeed get reset along with all of the other settings accessible via /gamerule. Which is extra annoying when players are seeing command block output when they shouldn't be. Again, it is directly related to game rules reset.
Umija5895M,
The description has been updated and I have also attached a video. Please let me know if there is any other data I can provide. Thanks.
