I had the same Issue on X-Box One (S, specifically)
Same thing has happened to me on PC. Mojang tweeted that they fixed it but some people are still blocked and other's characters have been removed/deleted.
I run into this problem occasionally too. I usually run into it in fiery forge and soggy swamp underground section.
The option to change would be good, but a change that is default would mess up the player base
I personally think that arrows and souls should be infinite in the camp so you can test things without limitations, as well as a way to disable it.
