There is a pointless crafting recipe that turns 4 smooth sandstone into 4 smooth sandstone. This logically makes sense, but it's kinda weird...

4 smooth sandstone = 4 stacked smooth sandstone (pointless crafting recipe bug)
There is a pointless crafting recipe that turns 4 smooth sandstone into 4 smooth sandstone. This logically makes sense, but it's kinda weird and could possibly confuse some people...

Thet only fall when above air blocks (portal block is not air). I guess this could be called a bug, but that would ruin some creations that take advantages of it. The same thing would happen with sand, gravel, and the dragon egg.
That was already fixed in the snapshots.
It sounds like a GPU issue to me. Try updating your graphics card drivers or get a better graphics card.
If that doesn't work or you can't get a better GPU, try the optifine mod.
Are you sure they're not just getting eaten by zombies?
Sounds like server lag.
It looks like the level.dat file got corrupted (when this happens, the seed gets lost, and superfat maps turn into default)
It probably is related to that.
When you put it into perspective, it makes sense.
What would you do if you were a zombie with 1/4th of the IQ of a archer?
Hmm... doesn't happen with me. What desktop environment are you using? (gnome, unity, kde?)
