My friends and I started a realm a few months back. We had a good 150 villagers between two player villages and 3~ world villages. One day, all of the villagers disappeared without a trace. Doors left open, workstations unattended, cats looking for owners. So we though "oh well, just cure one" as even the natural villages' villagers were gone. After 4 cure attempts, the villagers vanished the second they were cured. Went like this. Zombie villager > being cured > gone. It's like villagers hate banned from existing. Villagers simply refuse to exist, and we don't particularly want to restart our realm just yet. this started in 1.16.5, but even carried over and continues now
Eclipse Equinox having a world where it could be reproduced would be extremely helpful.
Though since it happens immediately, I suspect that in Realms' "World options" screen "Spawn NPCs" option is turned off - this causes any villager to be removed.
If it isn't the case, could you check if this behaves the same when running downloaded backup locally?
My post was marked as a duplicate, so I'm just going to comment here. Other comments show that villagers sometimes disappear, on my realm villagers are constantly gone. Even after curing, they vanish right as they become cured. There is no time between curing and gone at all. It's like there's a command block constantly killing villagers. Mojang, this is a game breaking issue, and should be at least mildly concerning.
