What I expected to happen was...:

I'm mining on lv5 just above bedrock and filling in lava pools to continue my strip mines and the blocks are going on fire beneath me on lv4, even when no lava blocks where present above below or around.
Bedrock, Cobblestone and stone will occasionaly catch fire while i'm standing on it and ignite me. i've died a few times because of it. I'm using signs to hold back the lava but It's happened when i've just used blocks and point and place. it's usualy a block below and behind the one by two corridor i'm working in. it goes out when i hit it or use water. but it is killing me a lotWhat actually happened was...:

3. ...the last instance of this happening had a torch above the square that went on fire
Here you go, took me about two hours to get it to do it again. almost walked backwards right into it

I've noticed it happens far more frequently with newly born animals, the amount of calves, baby sheep and chicks i found outside their double stacked wooden fences where far far higher than adult ones. in over four weeks of this I happened almost every time i went on a breeding EXP spree. so it was happening right as i stood there and watched. along with getting stuck in the corners of the fences. doesn't seem to happen with solid walls. haven't tried stone walls yet.
it doesn't matter what size of pen it is, even large ones cause suffocation damage or glitch through. and on servers where space is restricted for Player villages as well as claims. there is no option, they have to be small. one of my fav servers has wild mobs at scarce settings so finding mobs is a rare thing and are highly valuable. only to hear them die or wonder off your claim and get stolen because of this bug.
anyone know if mods like forge micro blocks can salvage fenced pens with the pannels without having to dig 2 blocks down or glass blocks or the other fixes like Aaron stated.
