I recently switched from Pop!_OS to Kubuntu, and my world created in Pop!_OS is getting the "Locked by another running instance of Minecraft" despite there being no other instances running.
Creating a new world works as intended.
Deleting "session.lock" in the world folder makes it possible to enter the world, but the world completely resets (but I do keep my inventory).
World link, 'Geralt' is the latest, and the others are backups. - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Wfg_fNwYhhDL84QpAGfTd46266xkv5O9?usp=sharing

Edit: I had a friend download the world. They created a backup from the "Edit" screen and sent the backup to me, and I was able to get back into the world.
Getting "Locked by another running instance of Minecraft" in Kubuntu 20.04.1(Linux distro)when trying to open a world that was created in Pop!_OS 20.04.
EDIT: This bug comes from GLFW. This issue has been fixed in newer versions, but Minecraft ships with an older version of GLFW where the bug has not been fixed.
Video demonstration of the bug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h5Jif6zyDs
In the video, there is a little overlay that shows which keys I press.
- If I press and hold 'W', I immediately start moving forward immediately.
- If I simultaneously press and hold 'W' and my spring key at the same time, I move forward but there is a small delay before I start moving forward.
- If I simultaneously press and hold 'W', my sprint key, and 'Spacebar' all at the same time, I do not move forward. Instead, I only jump in place.
- If I press and hold 'W', my sprint key, and 'Spacebar' but begin pressing them at different times, the bug does not trigger.
This bug triggers very often and is very disruptful to the gameplay. It can very easily get you killed.

I'm no longer using Kubuntu, so I can't confirm if that issue still exists.
The issue is still not resolved, nor is it a feature request. Wayland support is necessary to ensure the game runs properly upon Linux as Wayland gains more and more adoption going further.
On Arch Linux (meaning the system software is very up to date) using with with a Nvidia 1660 Ti with the 470 driver, launching the game would be met with severe graphical glitches that blocked out much of the game window, making the game unplayable.
On Pop!_OS 21.04 (meaning the system software is somewhat up to date) with the Nvidia 1660 Ti and 470 driver, the game would launch but would be running using generic mesa drivers instead of the actual system drivers, leading to very poor performance (this issue is not present if using Xorg, the system would default to the correct, much faster Nvidia drivers).
Still an issue in 1.18 Release Candidate 1. This bug triggers extremely often and is a serious hindrance to playing the game.
I just tested 22w16a and the issue has been fixed.
