Hey there! So i fired up 1.19 just a few minutes ago and immediately noticed the audio quality isn't quite what i'm used to hearing from 1.18.2 and prior versions. Please take a listen to the 2 sample videos i've recorded:
1.18.2 sample: https://streamable.com/uz9wgv
1.19 sample: https://streamable.com/15bbo5
As you can hear, the audio in 1.19 sounds almost as if it has been compressed.
I set the 3D directional Audio setting to off in the video but the issue persists whenenabled as well as disabled. No resource packs or mods were used, it's all default vanilla Minecraft.Hey there! See debug screens in the sample videos. All important informations should be visible there.

In versions past 1.20.2 the HRTF directional audio is stuck being "ON" even when the toggle is set to "OFF". I prefer playing without it because it sounds clearer whereas the HRTF directional audio is very loud and gives the impression of a lower quality than standard stereo.

This was fixed once in 1.19.1, see here:
MC-252546but has somehow re-manifested itself in 1.20.2 and all future versions, including snapshots and pre-releases with currently no fix in sight. In versions past 1.20.1 the HRTF directional audio is stuck being "ON" even when the toggle is set to "OFF".

MC-252546but has somehow re-manifested itself in 1.20.2 and all future versions, including snapshots and pre-releases with currently no fix in sight.Steps to reproduce:
- Load MC 1.20.1
- Set the directional audio toggle to "OFF"
- Play for a bit to get an idea how the game is supposed to sound like
- Set the directional audio toggle to "ON"
- Play for a bit again and pay attention to how much different the game now sounds and how it's much louder than before
- Load MC 1.20.2 or any subsequent version like 1.20.6 or 1.21 Pre-release 4
- Set the directional audio toggle to "OFF" if it's not set already
- Now that we have a good idea on how the game sounds with the toggle set to "ON" notice how it still sounds exactly the same even when it's set to "OFF"
Expected behavior:
- The audio should sound identical to MC 1.20.1 when the HRTF directional audio is set to off
Directional Audio toggledoes not workDirectional Audio toggle forced ON when set to OFF
Directional Audio toggle is forced ON when set to OFF
Can confirm this issue is still present in 1.21 Release Candidate 1
