In a hole, Villagers and Wandering Travelers can + not by Zombies and Zombie Villagers + when in a hole. I have tried this with a 1 x 1 x 1.5 hole.
In a hole, Villagers and Wandering Travelers can not be hurt by Zombies and Zombie Villagers
The hole that I have tested with is below.
I think this is intentional.
Seems to not be affected by fully transparent blocks, like glass panes.
