Changed Description:
I first noticed this in survival but was able to duplicate in creative. Whenever I throw an egg, the egg (in flight) appears as an ink sac. The egg still appears to work so it seems to just be a texture mismatch. See attached screenshot.

Yes, I was originally using a third-party texture pack but swapped back to the original.
EDIT: After looking over the bug report you linked, this is a definitely a duplicate issue.
