Please stop updating your servers so frequently; We get an "outdated server" message and it makes it really hard/impossible to support the game or play with frends.

or more reasonably allow for more backward compatibility between client / server versions? say max n - 2 ?
The game supports backwards compatibility where possible, however when the changes made in a patch require changes to the way the game client communicates with the server, older clients have to be locked out. Unfortunately that's just a technical limitation.
It is no different with any other client/server based software.
While it can be frustrating this comes with the territory as far as running a server is concerned.
