MC-15424Horses try to eat grass, do any animation in the water.
Horses doing any animation in water will cause them to drown. Taking damage underwater only causes them to be stuck forever.

Horses try to eat grass on the bottom of the sea.
Horses bend their horses down to eat while they are swimming. As they bend down to eat they stop swimming and fall down underwater. I was specifically riding a Donkey with a chest when we went to cross a river he kept going underwater and he started taking damage and as he took damage he couldn't swim either so he was stuck and died at the bottom of the sea....
