Villagers not breeding in 1.6 pre-release (hearts appear only briefly)
Both Survival and Creative
Put the summary of the bug you're having here
What I expected to happen was...:
A pair of villagers in a village with more than 10 doors should breed.
What actually happened was...:
Villagers wander around and go indoors at night, but don't reproduce. Occasionally some hearts will appear above one or other villager, but only last for a couple of seconds, sometimes less.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find or build a village.
2. Make sure there are enough doors to sustain a population of more than two.
3. Kill off all the villagers and either cure two zombie villagers or (in creative) use spawn eggs to create two.
4. Watch and wait. In survival I waited for three consecutive in-game days, no babies yet. I loaded up a copy of the world in 1.5.2, and the villagers bred within a couple of minutes. Trying again in 1.6, this didn't happen.

Uh, I want to test it out, but too difficult right now to make a breeder, can you upload your world?
I've got an infinite villager breeder running all the time and it produces villagers all the time, so unable to reproduce.
It's 96 MB, so not really. But I just went into creative, used Amidst to find a village, killed off the villagers and started from scratch and had the same issue (I wasn't sure if maybe it was caused by my house design). I could MCEdit my save to only include the "village"?
Yeah, that'd be good, I'll have a looksee, maybe there's something wrong with the world?
Thanks, in the meantime, I've just tried a third world, tried to build an infinite villager farm. Going to leave it for a while while I go and get some coffee, see if anything happens.
It seems they're both able to get in the mood, but as soon as they do, they're not interested any more. It literally lasts for about a second. Maybe if there were a lot of them they'd have a better chance, but with only two, they're just not both in the mood at the same time.
Edit: Pruned world attached.
Just saw, I shall test, thanks.
It seems that they are wanting to breed at separate times, maybe they do not see it as a house/village?
I was wondering that, that's why I went into creative in a different world to find a village, I added plenty of doors, killed off villagers until there were only two, and exactly the same thing happened.
I just had a test with something I saw, I think you built it wrong, have a look at this: http://puu.sh/3qivh.zip

Is that working for you? I'm still finding that they don't want to breed at the same time.
give it a few minutes, like maybe 10 max, but it bred after like 5 minutes for me.
So I see. Guess I thought they stayed in the mood better than they do, just tried in 1.5.2 too and saw similar behaviour. Thanks for all the input!
I guess you should just get as many zombie villagers as you can and cure them, then breed using them as well.
More villagers: more villagers!
Also, your world was pretty damn awesome.
Thanks, going to have to I think. I managed to get one more zombie villager while I've been waiting for them to breed... because one of the two villagers got bitten
Lots of waiting now. And thanks! There's not much of it though! Not yet, anyway.
Also, that world I uploaded, killed off all the villagers then replaced them, took about 7 minutes for them to breed.
Goodluck!
Also keep in mind when a villager dies in the vicinity of a player, remaining villagers won't breed for 3 minutes.
Does villager turning into villager zombie count as a death?
That's what it says on the wiki: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Npc_village#Popularity
