Game hangs indefinitely at "Saving World" on exit from single-player world
When exiting any single-player world in MC 1.17.1 using Forge (including latest v37.0.49), the game client hangs indefinitely at the "Saving World" message screen.
To recover, the underlying Java process must be manually killed, after which the launcher returns and says the game crashed with Exit Code 0.
No data appears to be lost, as the world can be re-loaded. Gameplay itself is normal.
This behavior exists on my Windows 7 (x64) machine and on two Linux machines (Fedora 33).
No other mods besides Forge are installed. FOV is 90, FPS max is set to 120. Fullscreen vs. windowed mode has no effect.

MC-148866.It's similar, but not a duplicate. That's one reason I included the note that my max framerate was a non-zero value.
Please explain the relevance of the FOV and FPS values. Does changing these values cause the issue not to happen?
