Can confirm
This is also making sharp borders in the caves from a Pre-release 5 world
It's rare to find lava in these type of caves now

Can confirm, hope this is a bug, I loved the large lava lakes.
Not sure how this happened since there was no mention of a change to this and it worked in a few of the previous pre releases.
Edit: Just thought i'd add screenshots to show comparison, its next to impossible to find lakes like these anymore
I dont know if the 1.18 release with this bug not solved
Shame this wont get fixed, I had a seed scouted out where a lava lake was the center of it. damn that sucks

I assume this was a side effect of the fix for
MC-241941which was supposed to only happen in the nether.Anyway good this is fixed now
