Villagers can't use Ladders properly
What I expected to happen was...:
Villagers would be able to descend with a ladder when the point they want to reach is accessible only through a ladder.
What actually happened was...:
They cannot go down, only up.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find any generated village.
2. Find a cubic house (the one with a ladder to the top with fences on the roof)
3. Either wait for a villager to walk up or make one.
4. He'll stay there forever (even if there's a zombie up there).
Environment
Windows 7, 64x; Java 64x

Villagers or any kind of mobs were never supposed to be able to use ladders by themselves, so this a feature request.
Actually all mobs and villagers can climb ladders, but only up, not down.
Does this happen only with ladders spawned in villages or does it also happen with ladders you would place yourself?
Any ladders from what I can tell. Some of the ones that I observed were placed by me. I don't think there is a difference between spawned ladders and placed ladders.
I can confirm this happening in a village at home. But I have a LOT of villagers in it, and they like to group together in houses. So what winds up happening is more and more push into the building, and the ones by the ladders are pushed up towards the roof. Then they get stuck because they don't know how to descend ladders.
I built a village in the trees of a jungle biome and they are always falling down bridges and don't use the ladders to get back up.
As Tails said above in the first comment, mobs do not have the proper path finding to use ladders like players can; they do not know how to use them. If pushed up against it, they will go up, like if a player moves against a ladder and doesn't look up or down, he'd automatically go up anyway. So in a way, sadly, this is a feature request, not a bug.
Maybe one day mobs will use ladders but not today.
Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w04b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
It is still an issue...
Mobs can climb ladders, but other mobs have to push themselves into them...
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.8.1 Prerelease 3 / Launcher version 1.5.3 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
I was messing around in 1.8.1-pre3, and...
Did anyone actually do any serious testing of this? I'm thinking this was never an issue to begin with. Villagers can go down ladders, but even then, I don't think it was using any pathfinding. It just kinda fell down the ladder.
Also, they don't seem to be able to go up ladders.
Had quite a few villagers derping down a ladder in an older world, assuming this is Invalid and everything works as Intended.
Well nothing is changed since then so they still can't climb down ladders. Unless they were never supposed to. Though it makes you wonder why can they climb up. Must be that aim for going sky-high xD
I did some testing, and they don't even go up a ladder to begin with in 1.8.
