This is actually a duplicate of
MC-212(not related, both all "no fall damage after re-entering world"; why was this marked as related in the first place??), which has important priority assigned, [Mojang] Moesh.
Mango__s, please refrain from adding archived/outdated affected versions to reports. We only update reports with the latest snapshot and latest release of the game. At the current moment in time, that is just 1.20.1.

So you plummet to your death, relog and are saved, that's intentional? NBT data explicitly saves a FallDistance float for how many blocks were fallen since last touching the ground/moving up, why is that saved then? Why are mobs not saved when you close the world last second?
