If you click on the air or a block out of range, then, without releasing the mouse button, try to break a block, it will not break on the first swing. This may or may not be related to MC-28444.

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w30c? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
I just tested it, and both this and the related issue are still concerns. I will update the versions.
