Have you linked your TwitchTV account to your Mojang account? https://account.mojang.com/me/settings
I have connected my account but i get the same problem
I am also getting this behavior presently. I linked my account last night and it shows linked in my account settings on account.mojang.com.
At this point the only thing that stands out to me is that the last 6 stream servers do not appear to be connecting.
Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report (minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt) here.
Okay, I closed out and re-opened minecraft and that seems to have done the trick for me.
