It stopped but if you are standing in a nether portal and u open a chest it will stay open. again saving and quitting seems to stop this from happening
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 14w18a / Launcher version 1.3.11 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
If you open a chest from a nether portal, it will stay open in the current version (14w25b)

This appears to be have never closed ... and I've just had the problem in the latest snapshot (15w43c). I fixed by logging out and logging back in again. Screenshot attached
