MC-50837Wolves teleport onto blocks that can suffocate them
Tamed wolf following me through a forest teleported onto a block under leaves and suffocated. Later, a wolf teleported to a block that had minecart rails going up a long incline and suffocated under the rails.
There needs to be some check to make sure mobs don't spawn or teleport onto blocks than can kill them!

Not sure I completely agree – in this case the animal did not grow up and did not get nudged into a wall. It teleported onto an unsafe block. Even if
